KAI ZAN Q & As
|
Q. Do I need a special reservation for the Omakase menu?
A. No, a regular reservation works.
Q. Is the Omakase menu available anytime?
A. Yes, our Omakase menu is served whenever we are open. The only requirements are that you arrive on time for your reservation (chefs require your full reservation time for this menu) and that you don’t have many dietary restrictions/allergies. If none of these things are an issue, you will be able to order Omakase with your server.
Q. Does my reservation have a time limit?
A. Yes, since we are a very small venue, and we are committed to providing you with the highest quality food at very reasonable prices, we need to ensure we serve enough sushi lovers to keep our doors open. Therefore, our reservations have a time limit of
- 90 minutes for parties of 1 and 2 - 1.45 hours for parties of 3 - 2 hours for parties of 4-6 * Please note that we only hold tables for 15 minutes and your reservation time starts at the time of your booking. If you’re running late, please notify us. We will try our best to accommodate you. Also, please note that our Omakase menu does require your full reservation time, and if you’re running late, this menu might not be an option. Q. Is there a reservation cancellation fee?
A. Yes, if you cancel your reservation less than 24 hours in advance. We normally send texts to confirm and will try calling you to remind you/confirm before the 24-hour window to allow for change of plans cancellations.
Q. Does the Omakase menu need to be reserved in advance?
A. No, our Omakase menu is served anytime we are open. The only requirements are that you arrive on time for your reservation and that you don’t have many dietary restrictions/allergies. If none of these things are an issue, you will be able to order the Omakase menu with your server.
Q. Do all the members at my party have to order the Omakase?
A. No, each of you is able to order individually either Omakase or a la carte.
Q. Do you have parking?
A. No, street parking is normally easy to find, and we highly recommend using a ride share for convenience.
Q. Are we allowed to bring a cake/dessert?
A. No, chefs do not allow any outside food or drinks.
Q. Can we bring alcohol?
A. No, we are not a BYO restaurant. We serve wine, sake, and beer.
Q. Do you do anything for Birthdays/Anniversary?
A. We are happy to add a candle and a Happy Birthday/Happy Anniversary sign to whatever dessert you order when we know you are celebrating.
Q. What is the largest party you can accommodate?
A. The largest party we can comfortably accommodate is 6 people.
Q. How early do you open reservations?
A. Our reservations system releases 60 calendar days in advance.
Q. If we are bringing a baby/toddler/child, do we need to include him/her in the reservation?
A. We absolutely need to know if you are bringing a baby/toddler/child with you. Since our floor space is very limited and the way our tables/seats are built, we unfortunately might not be able to accommodate you if we don’t have advance notice. Please also note that unfortunately we are not set up for/with highchairs, boosters, changing tables, etc. If you are bringing an infant in a carrier and we know in advance, we will try our best to accommodate you but depending on your party size we might not have enough space for the carrier. Please give us a call to confirm that we will be able to accommodate you accordingly. Thank you in advance for your understanding!
Q. Are you a wheelchair accessible restaurant?
A. Yes, but we do require advance notice, please!
Q. Are walk-ins welcome?
A. Reservations are the only way to guarantee your seats, but we are happy to take walk-ins if we have space. We highly recommend calling ahead if you have a last-minute sushi crave and do not have a reservation.
Q. Do you accommodate Gluten Free restrictions?
A. Yes. Gluten Free and Celiac restrictions are ones we accommodate on a daily basis with both our Omakase and a la carte menu.
Q. What other restrictions are you able to accommodate?
A. Dairy, Pescatarian, No Alcohol, Sesame, Peanuts and Tree Nuts, with our Omakase and a la carte menus.
Q. Can the Omakase menu be vegetarian?
A. No. However, we serve a variety of a la carte vegetarian dishes and a delicious array of vegetarian nigiri .
